What to expect

Learn Lao Language Fast & Easy is a beginner course for a language that very few apps cover at all. It starts where a beginner actually has to start: the Lao script. Alphabet lessons work through recognising Lao characters, the sounds attached to them, and reading useful words, with interactive practice rather than a chart to memorise.

From there the course builds vocabulary for greetings, family, food, shopping, transport, numbers, time, directions, work and daily life, and phrase lessons put that vocabulary into restaurants, hotels, airports, markets and conversations with local speakers. Grammar explanations and sentence-building activities cover Lao sentence structure so you can produce your own responses rather than only recognise set phrases.

Practice formats include listening exercises, matching games, vocabulary review, sentence building, dictation, quizzes and pronunciation activities, with mistake review and the option to revisit finished lessons. Progress tracking and daily goals keep a routine visible, and advanced topics cover expressions and cultural lessons. Lao speakers can switch direction and study English vocabulary, phrases, pronunciation and grammar with Lao translations instead.

Is Lao the same as Thai?

They are closely related and share a great deal, but they are separate languages with separate scripts. This course teaches Lao and its own writing system.

Can Lao speakers use it to learn English?

Yes. Switching direction gives you English vocabulary, phrases, pronunciation and grammar explained with Lao translations.

Is the app enough on its own?
